Venue, Accommodations, and other logistics

Venue - University of Missouri, Columbia, MO

We are the Memorial Student Union, located at 518 Hitt St, Columbia, MO 65211.  The conference will be based in N201, on the second floor.  Memorial has a bit of a fun history; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memorial_Union_(University_of_Missouri).  Public parking is available for $5/day at a garage at 10th and Cherry.

Parking

We will be providing parking for the conference in the Hitt St. Garage, a couple of blocks from Memorial Union.  If you are staying in the conference hotel, it is approximately a 20 minute walk from the conference venue, so you might prefer to walk from the hotel rather than driving and re-parking if the weather cooperates.

If you are planning on parking in the campus garage, please send me the vehicle license plate and which day(s) you will be parking by Wednesday (Dec. 3) at 1 PM so that we can process the permits.

Recommended Lodging

Accommodations are based at the Hampton Inn near campus, and we have a link to a room block for $124/night which is already linked.  It is possible to walk from the Hampton Inn to campus (about 1 mile), or to drive and re-park.  Please note that there are two Hampton Inns in Columbia, MO.  The conference hotel is the one near campus located at 1225 Fellows Pl Columbia, MO 65201 (the second is by I-70).

You can book a hotel here at the conference rate using this link.

Conference Dinner

The conference dinner will be held at Shakespeare's West (3304 W. Broadway Columbia, Missouri 65203) at 7 PM on Thursday.  This is about a 15 minute drive from campus, and we will have some extra carpool room available from the conference on Thursday.  Shakespeare's is a Mizzou landmark, and we're holding the conference dinner at a satellite location with enough room to host.  It has also been featured in national press (e.g.,https://web.archive.org/web/20101228172017/http://www.columbiatribune.com/news/2010/nov/21/shakespeares-pizza-wins-good-morning-america-chall/)

Suggested Attire

Dress for comfort.  Attire at the meeting is generally between business casual and casual.  For example, jeans are usually OK, and there is likely no need for you to wear a tie. You should also bring a coat and comfy shoes as there will be a walk between the conference venue and the conference dinner and public talk.
